Comment: Rick and crew showed up during a very trying time when our bulkhead contractor, having demolished our existing bulkhead, proceeded to go bankrupt. We were left stranded with no warning and no protection from erosion to our yard.Ricks crew immediately went to work stabilizing the shoreline. They went above and beyond to work with our previously approved permit and engineering and even used the already purchased vinyl sheeting onsite. We did not feel any stress during the build, the crew showed up every morning on time, and kept the site clean and organized. They actually worked and did not stand around half the day drinking pop and playing with their phone. The price was competitive, the workmanship was excellent, and the billing was always fair and honest - we never felt over exposed. Rick takes a lot of pride in his work and wants his customers to be just as happy. This is our fourth bulkhead and you will not find a better contractor.

Comment: I was in need of a seawall in my backyard to stop the erosion into the retention pond. I did my research before hiring a company, and I am so happy that I selected Rick Powell and his team at Barefoot Marine. They kept me informed at each phase, and at the end, I was 100% satisfied with the quality of work, as well as the value delivered. My backyard is now the envy of the neighborhood. I highly recommend Rick and his team.

Comment: Barefoot Marine exceeded our expectations, in rebuilding our dune walkover & steps, in Atlantic Beach, Florida! They were severely damaged by a recent hurricane, that also took out a lot of the dune. Outstanding workmanship, yielded a beautiful and sturdy result, professionally modified to fit our new situation.Highly recommend! Well pleased!

Comment: Lifesaver. Barefoot docks stepped up to the plate. At at time when so very many contractors dont answer their phone or say they will help but dont show up; this company showed up and did the job. We were under contract and in a bind with a damaged floating dock. Tom was out the same day I called. He assessed the situation and was able to formulate a schedule for remediation that fit our limited time frame. The work was completed beautifully, the house closed. If you need work done, this is the group you want to call.

Comment: Apparently Barefoot Marine Construction has only good employees. While they built our wall there were two different crews working and every one of their guys was professional and skilled. They always seemed to be busy and we couldnt be happier with the result.

Comment: The owner came out personally to address our concerns after speaking on the phone for an erosion issue. He dropped everything to inspect our property and promptly submitted his report. We selected his proposal and have never regretted it. Our bulkhead retaining wall is beautiful and strong and is completely protecting our pool and house. Love these guys!

Comment: Barefoot Marine Construction recently replaced 200 of bulkhead at my home and I could not be happier with their work. After years of dreading the approach of hurricane season, I finally feel that I have the high quality protection that I need. Every component that went into my new bulkhead is bigger and stronger than the previous construction. The folks that I worked with are top-notch. They are professional, responsive, diligent and helpful. I am 100% confident in recommending Rick, Tom, Curtis and the rest of the crew.

Comment: Rick Powell and everyone with Barefoot Marine has been a breath of fresh air when it comes to contractors. During IRMA we lost two floating docks and had damage to our dock seating area thanks to our original dock contractor cutting the pilings too short! That contractor refused to help us. Months later, enter Barefoot Marine! Rick managed to fit us in his schedule to complete the repairs/replacements we needed along with a new floating dock. When we decided to replace the short pilings, Rick again was able to fit us in after a job further north of us. We sleep better at night, confident Rick and his crew did exceptional quality work that also looks great! We would highly recommend Rick and Barefoot Marine.

Comment: Barefoot Marine saved my backyard, literally. My husband and I had never lived on the water before. We had no experience with marine construction. We wanted to replace our bulkhead and build a large covered dock for entertaining with a boatlift. We hired another company to complete this job. Big mistake! At first, we were pleased with the construction. A couple of months later, our bulkhead buckled. The pavers came crashing down and we had an extremely large hole in our backyard between the lot and the dock. The pressure from the bulkhead also caused our brand new dock to curve upward. Our contractor would not fix the problem. You can say, “I would sue him,” but good luck suing someone with no assets that is in prison. The worse part is that the contractor attached the new bulkhead to the old one, so it was compromising the foundation of our property. Where do we go from here?Barefoot Marine to the rescue! Rick Powell understood the duress we were under and was very sympathetic. He saw the gravity of our situation and made it a high priority. He gave us a very competitive price and began repairs immediately. Not only was he able to secure the bulkhead with anchors, but he was also able to remove the curve from the dock. He communicated with us throughout the construction, and his workers moved efficiently and were very professional.Would it have cost more to hire Barefoot for the initial project? Yes. Did not hiring Barefoot end up costing more in the end? Absolutely. Thanks to Barefoot, my family and I feel safe on the dock again. Rick Powell is always available to answer my questions and help me, although he finished the project 2 ½ years ago. To say that I am impressed would be an understatement.Moral of the story:1. Investigate. Pull the contractor’s license number. If he is working under another contractor’s license, do not hire him. Even if it appears that he is legitimately working for another agency as a subdivision of the company. If you have any questions, contact the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Run the contractor’s name in local county clerk systems. He may have pending criminal charges or a history of scamming.2. Choose a company with a stellar reputation. “No news is good news” is not true when it comes to hiring a contractor. Look for someone that has great reviews from unbiased sources. An in-depth review with specific details is more likely to come from and actual customer than the contractor’s cousin.3. Hire Barefoot Marine. If you do not hire Barefoot, hire a company like Barefoot, one that you know is knowledgeable, reliable, and established. There are so many companies that are here today and gone tomorrow. Prior to hiring Barefoot, I knew of Barefoot, but another contractor convinced me that his company was just as good, if not better, and they could complete the job at a low cost. Do not fall for this. The repairs will cost you more in the end.
